grilled tilapia with Thai sauce


adapted from Mat Gebu's blog....in the original recipe the fish was fried and the sauce was cooked seperately...but mine, in order to make it less oily, i grilled the fish together with the sauce...i marinated it for about 1/2 hour....absolutely delicious!



1 fish (i used 2 small tilapias)

1 lemongrass, lightly pounded

1 inch ginger, lightly pounded

1 inch galangal, lightly pounded

1 bunga kantan, sliced

4 kaffir leaves, sliced

3 shallots, sliced

2 tsbp fish sauce

lime juice

salt

3 red chillies }

2 garlic } pounded together

1/2 tbsp sugar }




  • clean the fish, rub the fish with salt and lime juice. set aside

  • mix everything together in a big bowl

  • marinate the fish with the sauce, the longer the better

  • preheat oven. once ready, grill the fish in the oven until cooked. (i wrapped the marinated fish in the aluminium foil)
