the 3 taste black pomfret (bawal 3 rasa)

modified from Mat Gebu's blog:

1 black pomfret (or any other fish)
1 tsp tumeric powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 carrot, sliced
cauliflower florets
baby corns, sliced
celery, sliced
tomatoes, wedged
1/2 tbsp sugar
3 tbsp water

1 onion, sliced
2 cloves garlic, sliced
1 inch ginger, pounded
1 tbsp chilli paste

2 tbsp oyster sauce
2 tbsp tomato ketchup
1 1/2 tbsp chilli sauce
1 tbsp light soy sauce

  • clean the fish and marinate with salt and tumeric powder. fry the fish till golden. set aside

  • remove excessive oil in the pan (leave about 2 tbsp oil). add in the onion, garlic, ginger and chilli paste. fry till fragrant

  • add in all the sauce (except the light soy sauce), mix well.

  • add in the vegetables. cook for 2-3 minutes

  • add in the light soy sauce and sugar

  • add in water, mix well.

  • put in the fish. mix well

  • remove and serve
