tenggiri goreng kicap (fried tenggiri with soy sauce)



i have not been cooking dinner for quite some time ( my maid did) and yesterday i decided to feed my "hungry hippos" with simple dish...

2 slices of tenggiri - marinate with salt and tumeric powder and fry till cooked
1 onion, sliced
2 garlics, sliced
1 red chilli, sliced
1 cinnamon stick
2 star anise
1 tomato, wedged
4 tbsp, sweet soy sauce (kicap manis cap kipas udang)
1 tbsp, salty soy sauce (kicap masin cap kipas udang)
garnishing- spring onion



  • remove excessive oil from frying the fish, leaving about 1 tbsp of oil

  • add in onion, garlic, red chilli, cinnamon stick and star anise, fry till fragrant

  • add in the soy sauce, mix well

  • add in the fried fish and tomato, mix well

  • remove from heat

  • garnish with chopped spring onion
